Academies of Learning Applications Available Now - Deadline Jan. 31
Jackson School District Academies of Learning
On Dec. 12 and 13, our 8th grade students learned about the academic opportunities we offer during their high school years.
Among the offerings are placements in five different Jackson School District Academies of Learning, including a new Academy of the Arts we will be offering for the first time to incoming freshmen in September 2017.
Our Academies offer students a focused pathway of learning within a desired field of study. Students take classes with a cohort of students with similar interests and receive advanced instruction to help them pursue their passions.
Our Academies are:
- Academy of Business
- Academy of the Arts
- Digital Media Academy
- STEM Academy
- Air Force Junior ROTC
Acceptance into one of the district Academies is competitive. Applications are available now and must be submitted by Jan. 31, 2017. Some require an entrance exam or audition. Students may apply to more than one Academy, but must submit a separate application for each Academy.
Presenting these ideas to our students is the first step. We are also holding a question and answer session for parents on Thursday, January 5, 2017, 6:00 - 7:00 p.m. at Jackson Memorial High School.
We hope your children come home this week excited by what opportunities await them in high school. If they don’t begin the conversation, we hope you will find time to discuss whether they are interested in this kind of focused pathway.
We also hope you will attend our parent information session or view information about each Academy on our Jackson School District Academies website.
If you have any questions about the application process, please contact the McAuliffe School Guidance office at (732) 833-4727 or the Goetz School Guidance office at (732) 833-4747.
