Important Information Regarding the Loss of a Student
Message to Jackson Liberty High School Parents and Guardians
April 5, 2017
The district was informed this morning that a Jackson Liberty High School senior passed away early this morning before the school day began.
There is no other information we can offer you, but we do want you to know of this loss to our Jackson family. Students throughout Liberty became aware of the loss through social media and other means, and once we received permission from the student's family, our teachers began discussing it with students midday.
We let students know we are here to help them, and that they could reach out to any member of the staff, including our well-trained crisis team counselors, for assistance.
Our staff of crisis counselors, staff and administrators were made aware of the student’s death this morning so we could prepare to assist any students or staff who needed help. Our counselors identified students and staff who could possibly be directly affected and were watchful for signs of stress or grief that needed intervention.
We also want our parents and guardians to know we are here to help.
Please do not hesitate to reach out to our school staff, counselors and other members of our Crisis Team if you or your child need assistance. You are welcome to call the guidance office at 732-415-7002.
We have also posted a list of Crisis Resources for Families that may be helpful to you in times of tragedy or loss. We encourage you to review these resources and to let us know if there is anything we can do to assist you.
