WELCOME TO THE THIRD GRADE
REMOTE LEARNING PLANS
*** Parents please have your child answer the question each day . *****
Please check out the Switlik Home Page for information about the recommended summer reading list.
As we come to the end of our school year, we can all be proud of the job we did dealing with Covid19. I would like to thank all of my students, parents, and caregivers for all of their hard work and dedication. I enjoyed working with you all and appreciate all your work in making remote learning a success. Please continue to read and review your math facts - this will help you with skills in the fourth grade. A good idea for summer break is keeping a writing journal to respond to the books you have read or just to write about your day.
I wish you all a warm, wonderful summer - full of FUN ! Stay safe, healthy, and active.
Remember - Working together proved to be the answer to success!
**** Please make sure you go into my google classroom each day for an important message !! ****
Book/Item Collection: We will be holding a “ Drive Thru” style event for parents and students to return items (Teacher/ Media Library books, calculators, classroom supplies etc..) from the school beginning on Thursday, May 28th – Friday, June 5th from 8:00 am -12:30pm at the school. Please enter through the school entrance as usual and proceed to the front of the building (Main Entrance). Carts/bins will be positioned on the left sidewalk closest to the teacher’s parking lot for easy access. Should there be inclement weather, please refer to the Switlik Web Page in the event that the book drop off has to be canceled for that scheduled day.
During this event, it is important that all parents and students remain in their cars, practice social distancing and ensure a safe environment for all. No one is permitted to walk around the school campus, the parking lot, or other parts of the campus. Please come at the time that is best for you and your family during these time frames. Please be advised, school loaned Chromebooks are not being collected at this time. Additional information will be communicated at a different time.
Attention all Switlik parents….
To recognize our traditionally scheduled Game Days…. Mr. Hamdi thought it would be fun to have some game day challenges. Mr. Hamdi has created an awesome Game Day Challenge for all Switlik students in kindergarten through fifth grade. A Google Slideshow will be shared with all students through the Switlik Webpage the week of June 1st. On it, you will find 6 bitmojis of Mr. Hamdi in various formats. Next to each Bitmoji there is a grade level arrow showing you which activity is aligned to each grade level challenge. Please click on the Mr. Hamdi Bitmoji and watch the youtube video that goes with it. Then, have your child complete the challenge. If you would like, you can film them performing the skills and send them to Mr. Hamdi (firstname.lastname@example.org) or me, Mrs. McKiernan (email@example.com) via email or shared through Google drive. Looking forward to seeing some, or all of your videos! Save the date….check out the Switlik Webpage the week of Monday, June 1st!Dear Parents/Guardians,
Teachers in grades Kindergarten through Fourth will be contacting you (via email, Google Classroom, Remind, Dojo) to inform you that your child's items left in their desks will be bagged, labeled, and returned to them in September with their new teacher. These items will be collected and parents will be contacted to coordinate a scheduled pick up time Monday through Friday between the hours of 8:00am. and 12:30pm.
EXCEPTION: Our Grade 5 students will be receiving ALL of their items, including promotion certificates, yearbooks, etc. during the last week of school...more information to follow at a later time.

Our Weekly Schedule
REMEMBER - We are a BUCKET FILLING CLASSROOM
Bucket Filler... or not .... it's your CHOICE !!!
If you are picking up your child early or you have a change concerning child care, please send in a note to let me know so I can pass on the information to the office. We will be working hard on our Math facts, taking mad minutes in addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division. Our Switlik Reading Challenge will be an important part of our Literacy program. Your child should read at least one half hour each night, which would equal 2 steps. The reading log will come home every night and needs to be signed by an adult showing that reading took place. We will read 2 steps each day in class and I will sign the log each day. Remember to use one line for each 15 minutes your child reads, this makes it easier to keep track of their steps. Please take time to check out the PTN website for all their upcoming events.
***** Some important information will be coming home in your child's homework folder. Please check it each night so you do not miss out on any classroom news or school events. Always check the school website for upcoming events. Please sign the planner each night and check and see that HW is completed. Reading every night is important to help your child succeed for years to come, so make sure it is signed only if you have seen the reading take place. Logging and reading each night is also to be completed on the weekends.
WORKING TOGETHER, WE CAN HELP YOUR CHILD HAVE A SUCCESSFUL SCHOOL YEAR.
Please feel free to contact me by a note in the planner or at firstname.lastname@example.org.
