• This is a new course this year that will focus on social-emotional learning and provide a new and hopefully exciting experience with both academic and social benefits, and will have positive long-term results for both the student and the school community.

    Studies show that an imbedded program of social-emotional learning can improve student personal and academic skills by providing them the tools that are necessary to be succesful both in and out of the classroom. This class is based on the five interrelated Collaborative for Academic, Social, and Emotional Learning (CASEL) competencies including self-awareness, self-management, social awareness, relationship skills, and responsible decision-making. This class is based in part on is will be aligned with the District's Responsive Classroom initiative.
