Independent Daily Reading (IDR)
Independent Daily Reading (IDR) is an important component of our Literacy class. Using their most current lexile level as a guide, students choose books of interest to read independently in school and at home.
INDEPENDENT READING GOALS
- Students will use various strategies to self-select books that are a good fit for them based on interest and current reading level. Students are expected to complete a minimum of 1 book each marking period.
- While reading, students will complete a skill-based graphic organizer.
- After completing a book and before beginning a second, students will select and complete a book project from the choice board. The project must be completed in class and within one week of completing the book.
*Graphic Organizer and Book Project will count as ONE assessment grade each marking period.
