    Honors English I is a rigorous course designed for the accelerated and highly motivated ninth grade student; it consists of challenging course work which requires extensive reading and highly developed communication skills. The study of literature and nonfiction is combined with extension and refinements in the areas of writing, speaking, listening and viewing.

    *How to Read Literature Like a Professor -by Thomas C. Foster- Preface and Introduction, and Chapters 1, 5, 8, 10, 12, 22.

    Lord of the Flies- by William Golding

    Mythology- by Edith Hamilton

    *Note:  This book will be used throughout the English Honors program.  Students are to read only the chapters specified for each grade level.
