    3. How to Read Literature Like a Professor by Thomas C. Foster- Chapter 2, Interlude: Does He Mean That? Chapters 11, 13, 15, Interlude: One Story, Chapters 21, 24. 

    There is NO written work required. JUST READ. Then REREAD. We will review and test in the order I have listed them.

    ADVANCED PLACEMENT LANGUAGE AND COMPOSITION  Grades 11 and 12
    Prerequisite: Students are nominated based on their standardized test scores, previous English grades, and teacher recommendations.  This course is designed for students interested in developing interpretative skills by raising awareness about their our composing process. Students will examine selected readings from American and World Literature primarily devoted to autobiographers, diarists, political writers, critics and essayists. This course provides concentrated instruction on analyzing and interpreting exemplary writing as well as applying it to their own compositions. Summer reading and supplemental assignments are required. Having successfully met all the requirements, students will be prepared for the Advanced Placement Language and Composition Exam.

    Grading percentages in this class are as follows: 65% assessment, 25% homework and 10% participation. Important change: the final exam is worth 25% of your grade in this class.
