The Jackson School District is selling the Christa McAuliffe Middle School and property at 35 South Hope Chapel Road, Jackson, NJ 08527. Below are key items of information for prospective bidders.

UPDATE:

At its Dec. 17, 2025 meeting, the Board of Education voted to formally accept an offer of $40 million for the purchase of the Christa McAuliffe Middle School property. The Board of Education approved a resolution at its Dec. 18, 2025 meeting to accept the offer.  

District leaders emphasized that, while it is deeply heartbreaking to part with a school that has served students and the community with pride for decades, the Board is confident that the district received a fair price for a beautiful and well-maintained facility.

“This was not a decision made lightly,” said Superintendent of Schools Nicole Pormilli. “Christa McAuliffe Middle School holds tremendous meaning for our students, staff, and families. However, due to significant funding losses, the sale of this property represents a responsible and necessary step for the district and for Jackson taxpayers.”

BID SUBMISSION DEADLINE:

Bids must be received in the Board’s Business Administrator’s office located at 151 Don Connor Blvd., Jackson, New Jersey 08572 on or before Friday, Dec. 12, 2025, prevailing time, at which time and place all bids will be publicly opened and read aloud.

NOTE: At its Nov. 19, 2025 Board of Education meeting, the board voted to establish a minimum bid amount of $44,418,000. Full details are provided in the Bid Specifications and Notice below.
