Our Search Will be Thorough, Transparent, and Inclusive
January 22, 2026
Dear Jackson School Community,
The Jackson Township Board of Education would like to share an important update regarding district leadership.
After thoughtful consideration, Superintendent Nicole Pormilli has informed the Board of Education of her decision to retire, effective July 1, 2026. We are deeply grateful for her years of dedicated service to our students, staff, and community. Under Superintendent Pormilli’s leadership, the district has maintained strong programs and co-curricular opportunities for students through a global pandemic, a financial crisis due to millions of dollars cut from state aid to Jackson Schools over the last seven years, and a rapidly changing educational landscape. We thank her for her commitment to our schools, staff, students, and community.
With this announcement, the Board is beginning the process of conducting a comprehensive search for our next Superintendent of Schools.
We recognize that the stakes are high. Given our shifting demographics and the budget pressures we are facing, this is not a standard search. We need to find a leader who isn't just a good administrator, but someone who understands our specific community and can keep our students' needs at the center of every decision.
This is one of the most important responsibilities of the Board, and we are committed to conducting a search that is thorough, transparent, and inclusive.
Please read the full letter from the Board of Education regarding Mrs. Pormilli's retirement and the BOE search process.
Thank You, Mrs. Pormilli
The Board thanks Superintendent Pormilli for her unwavering commitment to our students and community. We also appreciate the continued support and engagement of our families, staff, and residents as we move forward with this important transition.
"It is hard to put into words the impact she has had, but we know she has touched the lives of thousands of students throughout her career. On behalf of the Board, we want to publicly thank Mrs. Pormilli for her unwavering commitment to our children and community, and wish her nothing but the very best as she begins this next chapter of her life." ~ Jackson BOE

Because of you, we were able to preserve the high-quality educational opportunities that define this district." ~ Nicole Pormilli on the strength of this community during adversity.
