The Preschool Lottery Process

The Jackson School District is holding our annual PRESCHOOL LOTTERY for placement in the 2026-2027 Preschool Inclusion Program. This program is offered to families for FREE, thanks to a competitive grant the district earned.


To determine placement in the Preschool Inclusion Program, each year we hold Preschool LOTTERY. This lottery determines the order you will be contacted to register in our program. 

Families currently enrolled in our district preschool program do NOT need to reapply and do not need to fill out this lottery form for the child that is already in preschool  - only use this form if you have a child who has reached preschool age that is not already in our program.


IMPORTANT - PLEASE READ BEFORE YOU SUBMIT YOUR FORM:

The order in which your name is randomly drawn in the Lottery determines the order in which we will offer a preschool placement to you - it does NOT guarantee you placement in your home elementary school. The LOCATION of your placement is completely at the discretion of the district. We strive to offer you a place at your home elementary school, however, school capacities, logistics may mean that is not possible.

THE PROCESS:

  • The lottery opens Tuesday, Jan. 20, 2026 and will close on Friday, Feb. 13, 2026 at 3 p.m.
  • After the lottery closes, we will draw names at random from all those who entered the lottery by the deadline - and reach out in the following weeks to invite those families to begin the registration process.
  • We will keep the preschool lottery page updated with information about when the notification emails are being sent out (likely in early March) so you know to look for our email.
  • Please do not complete any other registration paperwork until you have been notified that you were selected in the lottery.
  • The program is open to students who will turn 3 or 4 years old by Oct. 1, 2026
  • Transportation will be offered to eligible residents (i.e. if the location of your home qualifies for transportation to your preschool). Please note that if your home is considered a “walking” area to your preschool school, you will not receive transportation.

FILLING OUT THE FORM:

  • Please do not fill out the lottery form multiple times for the same child - if multiple entries are received, only ONE entry will be submitted for the lottery for each child. We see every entry before we submit them for random drawing - sending in multiple entries can delay the process for all of us.

  • You will receive a confirmation email after submitting your form as a record that it has been received - it is INCREDIBLY IMPORTANT that you put the correct email on this form so we can communicate with you.
  • You must indicate what your HOME ELEMENTARY SCHOOL is in the form. If you do not know your home school, please use this link to search for your address (put in K as the grade). Again, there is no guarantee you will be placed there.
  • If you cannot determine your home elementary school, use the last option in that question and we will search it for you.
