The school year continues to bring new adventures and concepts to learn. Literacy has the students reading realistic fiction. We will begin writing a persuasive essay soon. Math finds us using strategies and properties to multiply by 2-digit numbers. We will explore ENERGY in science. During this unit, students will be able to explain the relationship between the speed of an object and the energy of that object. They will also explore sound, light, heat, and electric currents. Finally, they will engineer a clean energy vehicle.
During the month of November, the fourth-grade students will be in charge of the schoolwide food drive for our local Jackson Food Pantry. The students have created persuasive signs and have placed them around the school to encourage our community to support the food drive. In lieu of a class party for Thanksgiving, we ask families to make a donation, and in gratitude, I will prepare a traditional Lenape dish of cornbread and cranberries to share.
Thank you, parents, for a wonderful Halloween Party! The kids had a great time sharing sweet treats and creating a personalized skeleton. We even had enough treats to share the next two days, cupcakes at lunch the next day, and a sweet treat for after the math test. Special thanks to Mrs. Guzman for coordinating our festivities.
Please remember to sign up for a parent/teacher conference on Genesis by November 2nd.
