•  The fundraiser to help the animal rescue group begins this week. A note from the PTN was sent home last week with all the details. In Readers Workshop we have started our next unit "Bigger Books, Bigger Reading Muscles." We will focus on looking more closely at words.  We will be looking for consonant blends (ex. dr, st, cl) and digraphs (ex. sh, th, ch) We will continue to work on our Pointer Power, Picture Power, Partner Power,  Snap Word Power, Reread Power, Persistence Power,  Sound Power, Pattern Power to read bigger books.  In Writers Workshop we have begun to work on How-To Books.  The new words for this week are: eat, read.  In Math we have started Topic 9 "Count Numbers to 20." We will focus on counting and writing the teen numbers.

Reading bags will come home on Monday and are due back on Thursday. Remember to review the sight words daily. In the bag this week is a copy of the poster that details the steps we use when learning new words.

Since we are in the midst of cold and flu season, it may be a good idea to send your child with a watter bottle (leakproof) so they can avoid using the water fountain.
