Mrs. Elizabeth Sernotti

My name is Elizabeth Sernotti and I have had the privilege of educating students with special needs for 20 years in both Lakewood and Jackson Township. As a self-contained special education teacher, I hold the philosophy that teaching is the art of creating an environment where students can feel involved in the educational process and achieve growth despite the challenges they may face. I am proud to serve students who are met with unique circumstances and consistently strive to create independent learners. In the words of Rita F. Peirson, “Every child deserves a CHAMPION--an adult who will never give up on them, who understands the power of connection and insists they become the best that they can possibly be.”

Over the past twenty years, I have taught various classes for students with special needs, including programs for students with Autism, Multiple Disabilities, and Behavioral Disabilities from Kindergarten through Middle school. I have earned Teacher of the Year twice in my career, which has been quite an honor. This year I will be married for twenty years to my husband, Anthony. I have two daughters, Evelynn (17) and Ava (15), two dogs (Bella and Bear), and a bunny named, Dutchess. I look forward to meeting you all and learning more about each other. See you soon!
