March Principal's Letter

Dear Rosenauer Parents,

February has come and gone! Throughout the month we celebrated the 100th day of school, our PTA hosted a “Candy Bingo Night”, we had a Souper Bowl food drive for the Jackson Food Pantry and we raised money for the American Heart Association.  All in all, another busy month.

PLEASE BE ADVISED THAT WE ARE TIGHTENING UP OUR BUILDING SECURITY.  We are trying to limit parents in the building whenever possible.  For morning drop offs please DO NOT follow your child into the building unless it is after 9:35.  Students arriving after 9:35 will be marked as late and parents will need to sign the child in at the reception desk.  Also, all parents will be required to be buzzed into the building and will be ask to show ID.  DO NOT hold the door open for other parents.  Every parent/adult will be required to show ID.  Please understand this is for the safety and security of the students and staff.  Thank you for your cooperation and understanding.

I would like to thank Mrs. Pfluger for organizing and supervising the “Jump Rope for Heart” fundraiser.  Our students in grades 3 and 4 jumped their hearts out to raise over $2800 for the American Heart Association!

I would also like to thank Mrs. Modula for running our annual Souper Bowl food drive. Our students successfully voted for the Philadelphia Eagles to win the championship.  They voted by donating can goods!  The real winner was the food pantry.  We collected over 6 heavy boxes of canned goods.  This food will go directly to families in need in our own Jackson community!  Thank you parents for your participation.

Another great job by our PTA,  they organized our annual Candy Bingo Night.  I was fortunate enough to be able to attend the 1st of 2 sessions and it was clear that the kids had a blast.  It is great to see parents and their children spending time together in their school!  Thank you for all the hard work PTA!

The week of March 5th is our Book Fair Week and we will be celebrating Dr. Seuss’s birthday.  Students will be encouraged to wear different attire throughout the week.  A LIST OF WHAT TO WEAR IS NOTED BELOW UNDER UPCOMING EVENTS.  We will also have a Dr. Seuss Night which is sponsored by the JEA.  This event will be on Thursday, March 8th.  Our Book Fair will be that night too, so please come out and participate in the celebration.  Details about the events of the night are available in the backpack.

Our 10th Annual Gift Auction (APRIL 13th)

I would like to personally invite you to Rosenauer’s 10th Annual Gift Auction on April 13th, 2018 at the Woodlake Country Club. This is our biggest fundraising event of the year, which allows our children to partake in so many amazing events throughout their years here at Rosenauer. In the years to come, your child will be a part of class trips and assemblies, that create lasting memories, each year. One student, per month, is awarded “Student of the Month” by his or her teacher and the PTA presents each child with a medal and a $10 Scholastic Certificate for the next book fair. On the 100th day of school, every child will receive ice cream at lunch then, on the last day of school, snow cones. We also hold evening yearly events at school, including Candy Bingo, Trunk or Treat and a Spring Family Night. All these events listed are fully funded by our PTA and could not take place without fundraising annually.

Because the Annual Gift Auction is our largest fundraiser, your support is greatly appreciated.  We still have a few tables left.  Please fill out the attached form and send it in to reserve your seat.  You are also welcome to contact Andrea Frangella at 646-206-4945 or email if you have questions.  Full payment is due ASAP.   Hope to see you there. For more information, visit PTA Backpack.

Yearbook: The cost is $30.00 per yearbook. You have the option this year of ordering your books online and placing your ads online!  Please see the flyer on the e-backpack or the PTA page for further details. You can also use the link below.  Every year, we have students who did not order a yearbook, and when they come in, and realize they really want one, we can’t always accommodate them because there are none left. So please be sure to get your yearbooks ordered now while you can! It is a wonderful keepsake of the school year.

Never too late!!! If you are not a member of the PTA and would like to join, please send $5 in an envelope with your name, child’s name, phone number and email address. Once a member, you will have access to the PTA Facebook page, "Sylvia Rosenauer Elementary School PTA", which provides you with all events going on at the school and is updated when needed as fast as we can.

Parents, please remember that we offer breakfast to all students everyday.  All students have the opportunity to purchase breakfast between 9:10, when the school opens to students, until 9:25, when students report to homeroom.
