April Principal Letter

Dear Rosenauer Parents,

I think it is appropriate to say March came in like a lion.  Unfortunately it went out like a lion as well! With 3 snow days it was a crazy month!

Read Across America was held on the 8th and it was a huge success. So many of our Rosenauer families and staff had a great time celebrating Dr. Seuss’s birthday!  A special thank you to Mrs. Caloia for organizing the event. Outstanding job! We hope to see everyone on April 17th for our Young Author’s Expo!

Please remember that we have a 1/2 day on Thursday, March 29th. Dismissal is at 1:50.  We are off on Friday, March 30th through April 6th for Spring Break, returning to school on Monday, April 9th.

PARCC Grades 3-5

Students in grades 3-5 will begin taking the PARCC test on April 19th.    I will note the grades and subjects testing in the “Schedule of Events” which is listed below.  Third grade is scheduled to take the test starting on the 19th. The test will take about 2 hours every day,  ending around 11:30. Attendance is very important. Students who miss a day will need to make it up. The PARCC test will now be a requirement for high school graduation.  Taking this test in the elementary and middle school years will help your child gain the confidence and skills required to achieve that goal.  All students should get a good night’s sleep and have a nutritious breakfast each and every morning. Studies also show that students who are hydrated perform better on standardized tests.  Although this test will not be used for placement purposes, we would like our students to try their best! Thank you for your cooperation.

Our 10th Annual Gift Auction (APRIL 13th)

I would like to personally invite you to Rosenauer’s 10th Annual Gift Auction on April 13th, 2018 at the Woodlake Country Club. This is our biggest fundraising event of the year, which allows our children to partake in so many amazing events throughout their years here at Rosenauer. In the years to come, your child will be a part of class trips and assemblies, that create lasting memories, each year. One student, per month, is awarded “Student of the Month” by his or her teacher and the PTA presents each child with a medal and a $10 Scholastic Certificate for the next book fair. On the 100th day of school, every child will receive ice cream at lunch then, on the last day of school, snow cones. We also hold evening yearly events at school, including Candy Bingo, Trunk or Treat and a Spring Family Night. All these events listed are fully funded by our PTA and could not take place without fundraising annually.

Because the Annual Gift Auction is our largest fundraiser, your support is greatly appreciated.  We still have a few tables left. Please fill out the attached form and send it in to reserve your seat.  You are also welcome to contact Andrea Frangella at 646-206-4945 or email andi2317@gmail.com if you have questions.  Full payment is due ASAP.   Hope to see you there.
