Governor Murphy Announces NJ Schools Will Stay Closed Until at Least May 15

Dear Parents and Staff,

This is a brief notice to inform you that Gov. Murphy announced this afternoon that all New Jersey Schools will remain closed until at least May 15.

As we planned, our Jackson School District Remote Learning Plans will resume after Spring Break is over on Monday, April 20.

The press conference was continuing as we posted this information, but we wanted to get a note out to you as soon as possible. A full transcript and press releases from the state’s COVID press conferences will be posted on the Governor’s information pages (links below) when the briefings conclude. Links are below.

As of now, below is some text from the Governor’s Press Conference and Twitter Feed:

“We need to be guided by where the facts on the ground, science, and public health take us. That means it will not be safe to reopen our schools for at least another four weeks.”

“I’ve made this decision in careful consultation with @NJDeptofHealth and @NewJerseyDOE, among other key stakeholders. I know this is hard. But we are saving lives and we must maintain the course.”
