Dear Parents and Guardians,
As we make the push into Spring, we are reminded of how fast time flies. We are preparing some very special events and programs for the remainder of the year and already preparing for September.
Our Student Assistance Counselor, Ms. Sacs has prepared many programming events, lessons, videos and activities Alcohol Awareness Month.
Any student currently enrolled in 6th grade Advanced Math, there will be a meeting on April 11 at 6pm with Mr. Rotante, Director of Curriculum and Instruction, to review the academic options students have for 6th g ade and how students can continue to challenge themselves through their high school programming.
The third marking period will conclude on April 8. If students are struggling or need to make up any missed assignments, tests, quizzes, they should reach out to their teachers or counselors for assistance.
Our third quarter Attendance Challenge has concluded and students from Ms. Gittler’s Homeroom #103 are the winners! On Friday, April 5th during 4B lunch they will enjoy a lunch donated by Jersey Mike’s! This homeroom maintained a 97.1% attendance rate for the period February 4 to March 29. Excellent work!
The School and Home Association once again amazed us at the annual gift auction. This year the event was held at the Battleground Country Club. Thank you to Mrs. Carroll, our Gift Auction Chair, and the many parents who helped behind the scenes and during the night of the event to ensure its success!
The teachers in the math department have been collaborating and working with our new math series EnVisions this year. Overall, they see many positive results within our classrooms on the engagement strategies on how students think about math and how they use high level vocabulary to talk about math and the mastery of the why is as important as the answer.
Plans are moving forward with our Project Fit America grant. We have identified a location for the equipment and hope to break ground in late April or early May.
We are also planning and preparing to welcome our 5th graders to visit McAuliffe this month and begin their transition process to the middle school. This is always a great day for us at McAuliffe and our future 6th grade students.
Please continue to check out our school and district calendar for upcoming springtime events, such as our school play, gift auction, museum night, and other evening events throughout the Jackson School District.
Yours in Education,
