May's Newsletter

Dear Parents and Guardians,

We are in the final stretch of the school year!  We are preparing some very special events and programs for the remainder of the year and already preparing for September.

State testing is upon us and at this time we have concluded the Math Testing portion of the NJSLA.  On May 13 and 14 we will conduct the Literacy NJSLA testing sections. We will finish up state testing later this month when our 8th grade students take the NJSLA Science Assessment.

We are also planning and preparing to welcome our 5th grade parents to visit McAuliffe on May 22 and begin their transition process to the middle school.  This is always a great day for us at McAuliffe and our future 6th grade parents.

In the next few weeks we will be hosting the high school coaches to meet with our 8th graders and explain the athletic opportunities and timelines available to them at Jackson Liberty High School.  On Thursday, May 16 at 10:30am in the IMC, Mr. Brignola, Principal of Liberty HIgh School, will visit McAuliffe for a special Coffee with the Principal. This meeting will be specifically for our 8th grade parents and we hope to see you there.

We are celebrating throughout this month of May members of our staff:  Administrative Assistants, Nurses, School Cafeteria Workers and of course, our Teachers!  We thank them for all of the time, compassion and dedication they show each day.

Congratulations to our newest members in the National Junior Thespian Society!  The drama club celebrated their end of year event with humor, singing, great memories and honoring the newest members into this prestigious organization.  Great job to all.

McAuliffe held its “Ground Breaking” ceremony on Friday, May 3 to memorialize the upcoming construction on our Project Fit America Grant.  The school jazz band and concert choir performed beautifully to celebrate this exciting event. Construction should be starting over the summer months, so stay tuned.

Please continue to check our school and district calendar for upcoming springtime events, such as our band and chorus concerts, athletics, and other evening events throughout the Jackson School District.

Yours in Education,

Debra Phillips
