October's Newsletter

Dear Parents and Guardians,

As we have completed our first month of school, I wanted to thank all of the parents, students, and teachers for their hard work, dedication, commitment and perseverance as we navigated a unique learning model for both our hybrid and remote learners.  Students and staff alike are continuing to learn best practices for instruction relying more heavily on technology resources and software platforms.  Continue to reach out to teachers, counselors and administration if you are experiencing any difficulties with these learning programs.

Throughout the month of October, there are many special programs planned for Red Ribbon Week and Week of Respect.  The Student Assistance Counselor along with our Peer Leadership Program will be promoting positive choices against drugs, alcohol and vaping, we will unite to stand up against bullying and rethink how we can resolve conflicts without the use of violence.  During these two weeks, we will be providing video lessons and remote activities to promote these ideals.

We are working on starting some of our co-curricular activities on a remote platform.  As we continue to work out the details, teachers will be pushing out information to students and I will continue to keep parents informed via the email blasts titled “McAuliffe News.”

Our Fall Sports programs kicked off on September 14th with practices and scrimmages.  Opening Day is October 1st!  Please note that if you are planning to attend to support our middle school athletes, we do require spectators to wear their face coverings and maintain appropriate social distancing during these events.

Yours in education,

Debra Phillips
