Dear Parents and Guardians,

We are all very excited at the McAuliffe Middle School to start our 2016-2017 school year!

During the summer months, we have upgraded our 7th and 8th grade science lab rooms and all of our science classes will have increased access to chromebook technology as we move forward integrating the Next Generation Science Standards.

We have revised some of our technology classes curricula and will offer a Robotics Club after school starting this year, thanks to the generous donation of our School & Home Association.

Fall sports will begin very early in the year, so please check the athletic class pages for information on tryouts.  All potential participants need an Athletic Physical in order to participate.

As a reminder, students had summer assignments to complete in grades 6th, 7th,and 8th literacy classes, in 7th grade math classes, and in 8th grade algebra and geometry classes. Please check the website in case our students have some last minute preparations that need to be completed.

Additionally, bus passes were made available on 8/29 and schedules on 8/24.  Students need to bring a printed copy of their schedules to school on the first day.  I strongly encourage all students to memorize their bus numbers and their bus stop locations.  I know riding the bus can be stressful, but it is truly important that all students become familiar with the bus route, where they are picked up and dropped off, and who their bus driver is for the year.  My suggestion is to arrive at the morning bus stop a bit early on the first few days of school as we all get back into the swing of the school year.

To our 6th grade parents, state law requires students to have certain immunizations. Please See the letter and immunization update form you can bring with you to your doctor.

This form must be returned to the school nurses by September 23, 2016 or your child will not be allowed to attend school on September 26, 2016.

I hope you all have had an exciting summer and are looking forward to school starting in September!  Enjoy the next few days of relaxation and some warm weather.

Yours in education,

Debra Phillips
