Welcome Back to School

Dear Switlik Families,

 

As the summer is slowly winding down, and the new school year is approaching, I wanted to share some important information with you so that you can prepare for the beginning of the school year.  The first day of school for students is Friday, September 5, 2025. Please remember to review the 2025 2026 District Calendar for the full list of school days, days off and shortened days.  Please be sure that your child wears their school identification badge every day.

 

New Student Orientation will be held on Thursday, August 28, 2025 at 11:00 a.m.

 

Kindergarten Orientation will be held on Thursday, September 4, 2025 at 9:00 a.m.

 

Kindergarten parents and students will learn about our wonderful school, have the opportunity to meet their teachers and visit their classrooms!  If Student ID cards are available to us prior to orientation, we distribute them to you at that time.  All new families will tour the building with our Administrators and learn about our wonderful school!

 

REMINDER: Immunization Updates Required for Parents of Students in Preschool, Kindergarten and 6th Grade

State law requires students in preschool, kindergarten or 6th grade (or who will be 11 years old) to have certain immunizations depending on their grade for the 2025-2026 school year. (Note: This has nothing to do with any COVID vaccines.)

ALL STUDENTS DESCRIBED ABOVE ARE REQUIRED TO HAVE THESE UPDATED IMMUNIZATIONS BY THE FIRST DAY OF SCHOOL - AND MUST PROVIDE PROOF OF THESE REQUIRED VACCINATIONS TO YOUR SCHOOL NURSE’S OFFICE by Oct. 10, 2025. If we do not receive it by then, your child will not be allowed to attend school as of Oct. 14, 2025. (NOTE:  Preschoolers have until Dec. 31 to receive the influenza immunization.)

Below is a link to a letter explaining this requirement - which includes an Immunization Update Form you can bring with you to your doctor to fill out and stamp.

This update form can be returned to your school nurse (even in summer months).

Don’t think it matters? It does! The district receives additional funding based on the number of eligible students - and those funds support ALL students!

BACK TO SCHOOL NIGHTS

Switlik’s Back to School Nights are as follows:

  • Grades K & 1:  Tuesday, September 9th at 6:30 p.m.

  • Grades 2 - 4:   Wednesday, September 10th at 6:30 p.m.

 

SCHOOL HOURS

  • Regular School hours:  9:10 a.m. - 3:20 p.m.

  • Shortened Day hours:  9:10 a.m. - 1:40 p.m.

  • Delayed Opening hours:  11:10 a.m - 3:20 p.m.

 

PORTAL DATES

  • Elementary Teacher Assignments will be available on the Parent Portal after 9 a.m. on Thursday, August 28, 2025.

  • Please see the Portal Information Page for instructions on how to view and print your schedule and bus pass and what to do if you cannot print it out.

Drop Off/Pick Up Procedures:

 

Drop-off:

  • Drop-off takes place in the outer lane of the loop by the gym.

  • Unless enrolled in childcare, no student should be dropped off before 8:55 a.m., as staff will not be on duty prior to that time.

  • If your child requires help exiting the vehicle, please park in a designated space and walk them to the entrance.

  • For safety and efficiency, parents must remain in their vehicle while in the loop. Exiting vehicles in the loop delays the drop-off line.

  • Students arriving after 9:10 a.m. are required to be signed by a parent.

 

Pick-Up

  • If you must pick-up your child early, please make every effort to do so by 2:50 so as to not interfere with the dismissal process. 

  • Please note that pick-up procedures will be slower at the start of the school year as we carefully learn students’ names, families, and routines. This is to ensure the safety of all children. As staff and families become more familiar with the process, dismissal will become more efficient. We kindly ask for your patience during this important transition period.



Dismissal begins at:

  • 3:10 p.m. for Kindergarten students

  • 3:15 p.m. for Grades 1 & 2

  • 3:20 p.m. for Grades 3–5

  • All parents picking up their child(ren) must park in a designated spot and walk to the Main Entrance (Gym) with a photo ID to sign out. 

  • Students will be escorted from the gym to the entrance to reunite with parents. For safety reasons, parents are asked to remain outside while students are retrieved.

Bus Passes for all students will be available on the Parent Portal after 9 a.m. on Thursday, August 28, 2025.  Please be sure to be at your designated bus stop at least ten minutes before the scheduled time of student pick-up and drop off.  Bus delays are to be expected both in the morning pick up and afternoon drop off the first couple of weeks of school, as everyone is adjusting to the new school year.  Please be sure to be waiting for your student at the bus stop at the end of the day on time to ensure your student is not brought back to school.  Students who are chronically brought back to school will be placed in childcare at the walk-in rate.

School will be closed on the following dates in the beginnning of the school year:

  • Monday, September 1
  • Tuesday, September 2
  • Wednesday, September 3
  • Thursday, September 4
  • Tuesday, September 23
  • Wednesday, September 24
  • Thursday, October 2 
  • Monday, October 13

Queridas Familias de Switlik,

A medida que el verano va llegando poco a poco a su fin y se acerca el nuevo año escolar, quiero compartir con ustedes información importante para que puedan prepararse para el inicio de clases.
El primer día de clases para los estudiantes será el viernes, 5 de septiembre de 2025. Recuerden revisar el Calendario Escolar del Distrito 2025-2026 para ver la lista completa de días de clases, días libres y días con horario reducido.
Por favor asegúrense de que su hijo(a) use su gafete de identificación escolar todos los días.

Orientación para Nuevos Estudiantes
Se llevará a cabo el jueves, 28 de agosto de 2025 a las 11:00 a.m.

Orientación de Kindergarten
Se llevará a cabo el jueves, 4 de septiembre de 2025 a las 10:00 a.m.

Los padres y estudiantes de Kindergarten conocerán nuestra maravillosa escuela, tendrán la oportunidad de conocer a sus maestros y visitar sus salones de clase. Si las tarjetas de identificación estudiantil están disponibles antes de la orientación, se las entregaremos en ese momento. Todas las familias nuevas recorrerán el edificio con nuestros Administradores y conocerán más sobre nuestra escuela.

RECORDATORIO: Actualización de Vacunas Requeridas para Padres de Estudiantes de Preescolar, Kindergarten y 6.º Grado

La ley estatal exige que los estudiantes en preescolar, kindergarten o 6.º grado (o que cumplan 11 años) tengan ciertas vacunas según su grado escolar para el año 2025-2026.
(Nota: Esto no tiene nada que ver con vacunas contra el COVID).

TODOS LOS ESTUDIANTES MENCIONADOS DEBEN TENER LAS VACUNAS ACTUALIZADAS PARA EL PRIMER DÍA DE CLASES Y PRESENTAR PRUEBA DE ESTAS VACUNAS REQUERIDAS EN LA OFICINA DE ENFERMERÍA ESCOLAR A MÁS TARDAR EL 10 DE OCTUBRE DE 2025.
Si no recibimos la prueba antes de esa fecha, su hijo(a) no podrá asistir a la escuela a partir del 14 de octubre de 2025.
(Nota: Los preescolares tienen hasta el 31 de diciembre para recibir la vacuna contra la influenza).

¡Las solicitudes para almuerzo gratis y reducido YA ESTÁN DISPONIBLES – APLIQUE LO ANTES POSIBLE!

  • ¿Cree que no califica? ¡Puede que sí! Los límites de ingresos han aumentado.
    Ejemplo: Una familia de cuatro con $69,888 de ingresos es elegible según las nuevas guías de NJ.

  • ¿Su hijo no come almuerzo escolar? ¡Igual aplique! Si califica, puede obtener otros beneficios, descuentos o becas.

  • ¿Cree que no importa? ¡Sí importa! El distrito recibe fondos adicionales según el número de estudiantes elegibles, y esos fondos benefician a TODOS los estudiantes.

NOCHES DE REGRESO A LA ESCUELA

  • Grados K y 1: martes, 9 de septiembre a las 6:30 p.m.

  • Grados 2 - 4: miércoles, 10 de septiembre a las 6:30 p.m.

HORARIO ESCOLAR

  • Horario regular: 9:10 a.m. – 3:20 p.m.

  • Horario de día reducido: 9:10 a.m. – 1:40 p.m.

  • Horario con apertura tardía: 11:10 a.m. – 3:20 p.m.

FECHAS DEL PORTAL

Las asignaciones de maestros de primaria estarán disponibles en el Portal para Padres después de las 9:00 a.m. del jueves, 28 de agosto de 2025.

Por favor revise la página de Información del Portal para ver instrucciones sobre cómo acceder e imprimir su horario y pase de autobús, y qué hacer si no puede imprimirlo.

PROCEDIMIENTOS DE DEJADA Y RECOGIDA

Dejada (Drop-off):

  • Se realiza en el carril exterior del circuito junto al gimnasio.

  • A menos que estén inscritos en el cuidado infantil, ningún estudiante debe ser dejado antes de las 8:55 a.m., ya que no habrá personal de guardia.

  • Si su hijo necesita ayuda para salir del vehículo, estacione en un espacio designado y acompáñelo hasta la entrada.

  • Para mayor seguridad y eficiencia, los padres deben permanecer en su vehículo mientras estén en el circuito. Salir del auto en el circuito retrasa la fila.

  • Los estudiantes que lleguen después de las 9:10 a.m. deben ser firmados por un padre/tutor.

Recogida (Pick-up):

  • Si necesita recoger a su hijo antes de la salida, hágalo preferiblemente antes de las 2:50 p.m. para no interferir con el proceso de salida.

  • Tenga en cuenta que los procedimientos de recogida serán más lentos al inicio del año escolar, mientras aprendemos con cuidado los nombres, familias y rutinas de los estudiantes. Esto garantiza la seguridad de todos. Con el tiempo, el proceso será más rápido. Agradecemos su paciencia durante esta transición.

El horario de salida es:

  • 3:10 p.m. – Estudiantes de Kindergarten

  • 3:15 p.m. – Grados 1 y 2

  • 3:20 p.m. – Grados 3 a 5

Todos los padres que recojan a su(s) hijo(s) deben estacionarse en un lugar designado y caminar hasta la Entrada Principal (Gimnasio) con una identificación con foto para firmar la salida.
Los estudiantes serán acompañados desde el gimnasio hasta la entrada para reunirse con sus padres. Por razones de seguridad, se les pide a los padres permanecer afuera mientras se busca a los estudiantes.

Pases de autobús
Estarán disponibles en el Portal para Padres después de las 9:00 a.m. del jueves, 28 de agosto de 2025.
Por favor esté en la parada designada al menos diez minutos antes de la hora programada.
Durante las primeras semanas, es normal que haya retrasos mientras todos se ajustan al nuevo año escolar.
Es importante que los padres estén puntuales en la parada al final del día para evitar que el estudiante sea devuelto a la escuela. Los estudiantes que sean devueltos a la escuela de manera recurrente serán inscritos en el programa de cuidado infantil con tarifa diaria.

La escuela estará cerrada en las siguientes fechas al comienzo del año escolar:

  • Lunes, 1 de septiembre

  • Martes, 2 de septiembre

  • Miércoles, 3 de septiembre

  • Jueves, 4 de septiembre

  • Martes, 23 de septiembre

  • Miércoles, 24 de septiembre

  • Jueves, 2 de octubre

  • Lunes, 13 de octubre
