Elms Principal Message - November 2019
Dear Elms Families,
On Monday November 11th, Elms Elementary will be recognizing Veteran’s Day. Teachers will be addressing some of the many contributions and sacrifices made by our service men and women. We would also like to recognized Mr. Barry Rosenzweig and the volunteers who facilitated our recent Walk to Remember, honoring our lost veterans. All staff and students are invited to wear red, white, and blue on Monday, November 11.
Thank you to the Jackson Fire Department for coming out for Fire Safety Week, October 7-11. Our younger students, met some of the fire fighters, saw a fire truck, and learned how it works.. Older students visited the Smoke House to teach them what to do in the case of smoke/fire.
Thank you to our PTN for running a great Fall Book Fair Event! Our volunteers are essential to these programs. We couldn’t do it without you. Thank you for taking the time to organize and run our Book Fair!
Thank you to the staff and students of Elms who celebrated our Week of Respect October 7-11; School Safety Awareness October 21-25, and Red Ribbon Week (Drug Awareness) October 28-November 1. Helping our students to know right from wrong, good choice from bad choice, and how to keep themselves as safe as possible is our ongoing mission.
Elms’ 2nd Annual Truck-or-Treat was a lot of fun and a great success this year! It was great to see all of our families who came out for the trunk or treat event! The trunk decorations were awesome to see! Congratulations to our Decoration Winners: 3rd Place: Fortune Teller by the Pritchett family; 2nd Place: Circus by the Garafolo family; and our 1st place winners: Pirates by the Metelsky family! Great job one and all! Looking forward to next year!

American Education Week
American Education Week is a national week to recognize public education and educators. During the week of November 18-22, parents are invited to visit their student’s classroom to witness education in action. Each grade level will have approximately on-half hour to showcase a lesson for parents, and see their children actively learning. We hope you can join us in celebrating the American education system. The visitation schedule is below. You will be witnessing a lesson, so we ask that you please NOT bring younger siblings to this event.
