Principal's Message

March, 2018

Dear Johnson Families,

Good afternoon, I am sure everyone is looking forward to a wonderful spring break and hopefully some warmer weather.  This past month we had many activities scheduled at Johnson.  We had Spring Pictures on March 2nd and you should have received your proofs this week.  On March 9th we celebrated Read Across America with our Storybook Character Day.  It was great to see everyone dressed as their favorite storybook character.  We just finished Kindergarten Registration.  If you were unable to register your child for Kindergarten yet, please contact the main office to schedule an appointment.

I want to thank the PTO for sponsoring our grade level assemblies and trips.  Our fourth grade classes were just visited by the Woodford Cedar Run Wildlife Refuge and our third and fifth grade classes will enjoy a laser show by Prismatic Magic when we return.  We also have several class trips scheduled after spring break. Here are a few other PTO sponsored events this past month:  Mother/Son Game Night, Surf Taco Dine-Out, Spring Food Drive and a visit from Christie Pearce Rampone, a two time world cup champion and three time gold medalist on the US Women’s National Soccer Team.  We are looking forward to the upcoming Johnson School Talent Show taking place on April 13th.  We hope to see everyone there, it is sure to be a great night!

Just a reminder, school will be closed for Spring Break from March 30th to April 8th.  We return to school on Monday, April 9th

Report Cards are available on the Portal for Parents on Friday, April 13th

Due to the additional snow days, there has been a change in the 5th Grade Moving Up Ceremony date.  It will now be held at 2:30pm on Tuesday, June 19th at the Crawford-Rodriguez Elementary School.

Arrival Procedure

Thank you for following the drop off procedures set forth in the student handbook. As a reminder, please drive slowly through the parking lot. When dropping off pull up next to the orange cones as far down as possible to allow other cars to pull in behind you.  Please avoid parking/stopping in the crosswalk.  Students should exit the car on the passenger side only. Students should exit the car quickly and independently. If you feel strongly that they need help exiting the car or you need to watch/walk them to the door then you must find a designated parking space in the second or third row of the lot. This will allow for cars to move through the drop off line in a more efficient and safe manner.
