Dear Johnson Families,

 

SCHEDULE YOUR PARENT-TEACHER CONFERENCE IN PARENT PORTAL

 

Beginning October 20th, you can utilize the parent Portal to schedule a conference with your child’s teacher at a time that works for you.

To do this, log into your Portal account and select the CONFERENCES tab at the top. Then, select the “Request a Conference’’ link.

Change the date on the window to the Week of 11/13/17 and see what time slots are available for your child’s teacher. Click the reserve button for the time you would like.  Once completed, you will see your reserved conference on the main page of the conferences tab. You can use this link to cancel or change the conference if you need to.

Please schedule your conference(s) by Friday, November 3rd!

If you have not completed your Back to School Forms online, you will not be able to schedule a conference.

BACK TO SCHOOL FORMS

You will not be able to access your child’s information on the Parent Portal, if you have not completed the Annual Back to School forms. Remember that there are TWO tasks for back to school forms:  One task involves completing the FORMS (Annual Notice, Publicity/Internet Publication, Acceptable Use of Internet, Emergency and Illness Info). The second task involves going to the CONTACTS tab when you are finished with the forms and filling that out. 

Also, please remember that if your Portal login does not work, please try the 'Forgot My Password' link above BEFORE contacting support, as most issues will be resolved through that feature. Please note that the "Forgot Password'' link will work only with parents who have an e-mail as their login ID. For questions or problems with your login IDs or password (or if you do not have them), please send an e-mail to portalsupport@jacksonsd.org and include your name and phone number, as well as your child's name, school, grade, student ID number and the problem you are experiencing and we will respond to you as quickly as possible.

 

UPCOMING ACTIVITIES AND EVENTS

The week of October 23rd we will be honoring Red Ribbon / School Violence Awareness Week with school wide activities.  Please show your H.C. Johnson School spirit and join in!

Fall Pictures will take place on Friday, October 27th.  The flyers went home with students yesterday. 

Monday, October 30th, will be our Fall Fun Event at Johnson.  There will be many great activities so we hope to see you there!  Please sign up by October 26th.   Please see details below.

Tuesday, October 31st, will be our Halloween Parade starting promptly at 10AM. The parade will begin with students exiting the kindergarten wing doors and proceeding past the main entrance, around the building to the bus loop and along the sidewalk. Students will re-enter the building through the 1st/2nd  grade wing door. Cones will be set up to mark the parade route. Visitors are encouraged to stand on either side of the cones creating a walkway for the students. A few important tips:

  • If you are coming only to view the parade, you may park on the bus ramp after all buses have left for morning drop-off. After the parade, you must promptly
  • If you are staying for a celebration in a classroom after the parade, you may not park in the bus parking area. Please find a traditional parking spot.
  • Parking will be an issue so may I suggest you give yourself time in the event you have to park at Camp Joy and walk up the hill to Johnson School.

 

American Education Week is observed from November 13th – November 17th.  This week coincides with parent conference week with shortened days.  Parents are welcome to visit their child’s classroom during this week.  The following is the schedule for visitation at each grade level.

Please send in your RSVP by October 26 for our brand-new Fall Fun at HCJ event on Monday, October 30 from 6-8 PM! We will have trick-or-treating in the halls, pumpkin painting, a craft, a photo booth, face painting, and more! Friends and siblings welcome! Coffee Beanery fundraiser deadline extended to Monday, October 23! Don't miss out on coffee, tea, and cocoa for the cold weather!

Coming November 1 — Gertrude Hawk! This hugely popular fundraiser fills your holiday stockings and treat boxes with delicious chocolate and candy AND benefits the PTO! Watch your child's backpack for the order form! Orders are due November 20.

Fall Food Drive runs November 13-17. Please give generously to our neighbors to fill their holiday table.

If you have not returned or paid for your KidStuff book or Community Card, please do so immediately. Thanks for supporting these fundraisers -- they go a long way toward funding the PTO's activities and educational experiences for our students. 

Last PTO meeting of 2017 is Wednesday, November 29 at 7:00 PM. Looking forward to talking about our final events for 2017 and looking ahead to Spring! See you there!
