Principal's Message, September 13, 2018

Dear Johnson Families,

 

I want to welcome everyone back to the Johnson School for the 2018-2019 school year.  I hope everyone had an enjoyable summer. We are glad to be back and the first few days of school have been great.  We got right down to business with academics and reviewing safety matters with the students. Our first fire drill was successfully conducted and we will have a lockdown drill later in the month.  Continuing with safety, please remember when coming to Johnson to bring your ID with you and be prepared to show it at reception.

Our first Back to School Night will be held Monday, September 17th, for kindergarten, first and second grades, as well as, Miss Knolmajer’s, Mrs. Barlow’s, and Mrs. Woolverton’s classes. Unlike years past, you will report directly to your child’s classroom.  There will be no general assembly in the All Purpose Room.  Teachers will begin their presentations promptly at 7PM.  Parking at the Johnson School can be a challenge so please give yourself plenty of time.  Our second Back to School Night will be held on Thursday, September 20th, for third, fourth, and fifth grades, as well as, Mrs. Beline’s and Mrs.  Rodriguez’s classes.

Just a reminder, school is closed on Wednesday, September 19th.

We will be celebrating the men and women of our Armed Forces with a Walk to Remember on Friday, September 21st.  Students are to wear red, white and blue.  Students will march around the bus loop for a couple of laps as they listen to patriotic songs and meet former military personnel such as the former principal of Johnson School, Mr. Rosenzweig.  We are also encouraging students to bring in a canned good for a food drive to help feed homeless veterans.

The Fall Book fair will be taking place September 24th through September 28th.  Please check your child’s teacher’s class page to see their scheduled day.  We will also hold a Book Fair Night on Thursday, September 27th, from 6-9pm and an Ice Cream Social from 7-8pm.   We hope to see you there!

IMPORTANT - Back to School Forms

Thank you to all our parents and guardians who have completed their Back to School Forms already this year.  If you have not yet completed your forms, please do so.

Remember that there are TWO tasks for back to school forms:  One task involves completing the FORMS (Annual Notice, Publicity/Internet Publication, Acceptable Use of Internet, Emergency and Illness Info). The second task involves going to the CONTACTS tab when you are finished with the forms and filling that out. 

Also, please remember that if your Portal login does not work, please try the 'Forgot My Password' link above BEFORE contacting support, as most issues will be resolved through that feature. Please note that the "Forgot Password'' link will work only with parents who have an e-mail as their login ID. For questions or problems with your login IDs or password (or if you do not have them), please send an e-mail to portalsupport@jacksonsd.org and include your name and phone number, as well as your child's name, school, grade, student ID number and the problem you are experiencing and we will respond to you as quickly as possible.
