Principal Message - August 16, 2017

Dear Elms Families,

I hope the summer finds you rested, relaxed and enjoying all of the wonderful things that summer brings: family gatherings, beach days, reading, and more! As you continue to enjoy these last August days....I would like to welcome all of you to a new school year for 2017-2018! All of Elms’ teachers and staff are eager to meet our students and begin a school year filled with new and exciting learning opportunities.

With new opportunities and warm welcomes in mind, I would like to welcome Mr. Shawn Levinson, Elms’ new Assistant Principal. I look forward to formally introducing him to the Elms community at our upcoming Back to School Nights in September. [Please refer to the Elms website for specific BTSN dates and times in accordance to your child’s grade level.]

I would also like to recognize and congratulate Dr. Lisa Lane as she moves forward in her new district role as Jackson Supervisor of Curriculum. Dr. Lane served the Elms community for ten years as Assistant Principal and will be very missed. We wish her all the best in her new position.

Preparations for the upcoming school year are underway. The custodial staff are diligently working to prepare the building for our students return. Teachers are planning for success and organizing their classrooms. Kindergarten teachers and building administration look forward to meeting our new Kindergarten students at Kindergarten Orientation on August 31st at 10 am. We are so excited to meet our newest Elms Tigers.

The first day of school is September 6th for all students. Our staff will greet our students in the front of the building upon arrival and assist any learners that may need direction and support. Our school doors open promptly at 8:55 am for student arrival. Please contact the school if you have any questions. We are here to help you.

In closing, we are committed to working closely with you and your child this school year as we embrace the many opportunities afforded to help your child grow, think, and dream.

Most Sincerely,

Michael Burgos
