Elms Principal Message- Winter 2020

Dear Elms Family,

With the holidays rapidly approaching, let us be the first to extend to you and your family a warm Season’s Greetings! As we all navigate through these atypical times, may the Holiday Season bring only happiness and joy to you and your loved ones.

Book Fair:  Don’t forget the Scholastic Book Fair is here. Books are an excellent gift idea for anytime of the year.  This year the Book Fair will be virtual and runs from November 9th to November 22nd.  Orders for books will be shipped right to your house.

Holiday Shop:  It’s one stop shopping at the Elms Shopping Extravaganza!  Raise funds for Elms, get some great gift ideas,  and shop at the same time.  This fundraiser will include discounts, Display My Art, gift cards, and so much more.  Please see the Elms PTN webpage for more details.

Snowman Decorating: The holiday season is just about here, and we want to fill the Elms hallways with cheer! We had such a great response to our pumpkin decorating contest last month, that we decided to set up a snowman decorating contest. Of course, participation is voluntary.

If you would like to participate, please create a snowman and bring it to school by Dec. 4th. You can create your snowman with whatever materials you’d like, as long as you do not use edible materials. Paper, cardboard, Styrofoam, and recycled materials are just a few examples of what you may want to use. We know our Elms families are creative! The finished snowmen will be displayed at Elms until right before our winter break. A prize will be awarded to one participating student per grade level as well as a full remote student compliments of the Elms PTN. We look forward to seeing your creations!

Project Little Soldier: The Elms Elementary School and Elms PTN are excited to partner with the Jackson Rotary Club for Project Little Soldier.  The Project Little Soldier initiative provides holiday gifts to the children of deployed military men and women.  In  addition to not having a parent with them this holiday season, these children are dealing with the daily life disruptions from Covid-19.  Your support and contributions will enable the Rotary Club to purchase requested gifts for the children.  Donations of any amount are most welcome.  Checks should be made payable to “Jackson Rotary Club” with “Project Little Soldier” in the memo section. Please send all checks in an envelope marked “Elms PTN Project Little Soldier”.   On behalf of the Jackson Rotary Club and the Elms PTN, thank you for your continued support and consideration.
