Upcoming Fundraisers, Conferences and More...
Dear Elms Families:
The leaves are turning yellow, orange, and red, the temperatures are beginning to fall, and the night sky is getting darker more quickly each day. Fall is here! We have many things planned at Elms Elementary this November. During the next few weeks, Elms will be promoting character and climate by celebrating Respect Week and inviting our parents to our classrooms during American Education Week [November 14th-17th].
Cicconi Farms: Thank you to all the families who came out to our Fall Festival Thursday at Cicconi Farms. It is always wonderful to see our families in a fun setting! Thank you to all of our staff volunteers. The students love seeing you outside of the classroom. You are the superstars! Thank you to our PTN. You put together and amazing event! Thank you especially to Heidi Kurek and all our parent volunteers for all of your hard work organizing staff, parents and the events of the night. Awesome job!
Book Fair: Attention parents! Our first Book Fair will be held November 1st through the 3rd. Our Family Fun “Paint” night will be the night of November 3rd from 6:00-8:00 PM. We look forward to seeing you at the Book Fair and at Paint Night.
School is Closed: Monday, November 7h through Friday November 11th
American Education Week: The week of November 14th, Elms will be participating in American Education Week. This is a week when parents can come into the classroom and see the teachers and students “in action”. In order to give all parents the opportunity to observe classroom programs without interruption, younger children are not to be included in the classroom visitations. Please refer to the teacher class page for the scheduled visitation time. As always, please remember all visitors will require valid photo identification to enter the school.
Conferences: Parent/teacher conferences are scheduled during American Education Week November 14th – November 17th. Conferences have become an essential part of a child’s education. Parent/teacher conferences are set aside so that you and the teacher can discuss your child’s progress in the classroom on a one-to-one basis. Conferences give parents a chance to ask questions about subjects being taught and understand expectations. They also give you the opportunity to exchange information about your child that might assist the teacher in the classroom. Finally, the conference is the place to express any concerns you might have regarding your child’s progress. During the conferences, the teacher will provide information about your child’s strengths, weaknesses, and social, physical, and emotional needs at school. The information gained by attending conferences can be utilized to help your child succeed in school. Parent/teacher conferences are scheduled for the benefit of the child. Use these conferences as a way to get to know your child’s teacher and become informed about your child’s progress in school.
Scheduling Parent–Teacher Conferences: Elms parents can schedule a Parent-Teacher-Conference through the Portal beginning Friday, October 21st. Parents can utilize the Portal system to schedule a conference with your child’s teacher at a time that works for you. To do this, log into your Portal account and select the CONFERENCES tab at the top. Then, select the “Request a Conference’’ link. Change the date on the window to the Week of Nov. 14th and see what time slots are available for your child’s teacher. Once completed, you will see your reserved conference on the main page of the conferences tab. You can use this link to cancel or change the conference if needed. Please be sure to schedule a Parent-Teacher conference at your earliest convenience.
Please contact the school directly if you have any questions. We will be glad to assist you.
