• Dear Jackson Students,
Hello from the Jackson Branch of the Ocean County Library! Summer Reading looks
a little different this year, but we are so excited to share it with you and your family. Let
us dive into adventure with Tails and Tales, our 2021 summer reading theme.

    Summer Reading Challenge FAQ:

What is the Summer Reading Challenge?
We are challenging you to read 5 books of your choice during your summer break.
You can read 5 books on your own, they can be read to you, or you can listen to the
audiobook recording of the book of your choice. We are happy to support you in your
reading journey in whatever form you choose to read.
 How will I log my books?

You or your Parent/Guardian are required to log your summer reading via
Beanstack website or app. For more information on how to sign up, please
visit our website theoceancountylibrary.org/beanstack, or follow the
instructions at theoceancountylibrary.beanstack.org. All users with existing
accounts can log in and participate as you have done in the past by
registering for the new 2021 summer reading challenge (registration will
    open in June).

 Will there be summer reading prizes this year?

Once you finish reading 5 books this summer, and log all of your read titles
on Beanstack, you are eligible to receive a book bundle prize of your choice!
In addition, we will enter you into a raffle to win a 1st or 2nd place prize
baskets. We will draw winners via Beanstack after Labor Day weekend.
 Can I get a book bundle every time I read 5 more books? If I read 15
books does that mean I get 3 book bundles?
No, there will be one book bundle per child due to limited supplies. However,
we have so many different bundles to choose from, we know you will love
our selections ranging from Minecraft to Dork Diaries! No specific titles are
promised, but you can check out our display showcasing the bundles in our
    branch.

 Is there a prize wheel this year?

Not this year, but we cannot wait to bring it back in some form or another in
    the future!

 Will there be in-person programs this Summer?

There will be no in-person programs, but we will be offering a large sweep of
alternative, contactless activities to take home or attend virtually. For a full
list, please see our attached Summer Reading Calendar or check out
Calendar of Events at our OCL website. We strive to provide take home
activities that are fun, active and easy for children to navigate. These will
range from STEAM programs to virtual zoo tours to take-home pajama
    parties!

     When Does Summer Kickoff?

Mark your calendars for our take home Summer Kick-off Outdoor Activity
Bundle available to pick up June 23rd, our official kickoff date!
Our summer’s end take-home Pajama Party will feature our friends, Elephant
    and Piggie® on August 27th!

 Will there be Reading and Math Buddies this year?

Our S.A.I.L. Teen program is virtual this summer, so there will be no Reading
or Math Buddies. We are so sorry for the inconvenience, but please check
our website for alternative Homework Help such as Brainfuse!

 Can I get my Summer Reading Assignment books at the Library?
Yes! We have a large selection of books from the Jackson School District
Elementary Summer Reading Assignments. Please stop by and we will be
happy to help you find what you need!

 Do my school summer reading books count toward my Jackson Library
    Summer Reading Challenge?
Yes, just log them individually in Beanstack.
