Principal’s Message
March 14, 2025
Good afternoon, Johnson Families:
I hope this message finds you and your family anticipating the beauty and the sounds of spring! Freshly mowed lawns, birds chirping in the trees, and the summer’s warmth cascading upon us ~ all signs that the new season is here.
Our Spring Break begins with a shortened day on Thursday, April 17 ~ remember dismissal time on these shortened days begins at 1:30PM;
-
School is then closed from Friday, April 18th through Friday, April 25th. Students return on Monday, April 28th.
For learners in Grades 3, 4, and 5 ~ statewide NJSLA Testing begins May 6th and continues to May 15th on specific scheduled dates.
Here at the Johnson School, we look forward to the exciting events planned for these last few months. I can’t believe how fast the school year is going by ~ it always does. As I work with our team to plan the end of the school year ~ there is some important and exciting news I want to share with all of you. After 30 incredible years as an employee in the Jackson School District, I am formally announcing my retirement, effective July 1, 2025. This decision comes filled with reflection on a career that has been rewarding both professionally and personally. I have had the privilege of being closely connected with the district for over three decades - with my children being Jackson alumni and, now coming full circle, with my granddaughter also attending school in our district. These years have been filled with meaningful experiences and lasting contributions to the district's mission. I have had the opportunity to work alongside the most amazing colleagues, teachers, students and families throughout my years as a Director, a Principal, a Vice Principal, a Reading Specialist and a Teacher. I have also been fortunate to have worked in every single one of our ten school buildings, when we had ten school buildings. As I evolve to this new chapter of my life, I look forward to spending more time with my family, at the beach, traveling, and creating art. The successes and years I have spent working and living in the Jackson School District remain close to my heart. I am fortunate to have spent my final time serving this fine educational establishment. Thank you for the privilege of being part of the Johnson Elementary School, its school community is truly a family ~ one in which I embraced ~ and which wholeheartedly embraced me.
With sincere appreciation,
Theresa Licitra
