Unit 1: The FIRST 6 WEEKS
Our current unit of study is The First 6 Weeks - Building Our Classroom Community! This will be our first of many studies for the school year! This introductory study will teach our preschoolers all about school!
➡️ Our Social-Emotional Learning Focus 1: LISTENING
Students are learning to look, stay still, and think when the teacher is talking!
🐾 Unit 2: The PET STUDY 🐾
Duration: Six Weeks
Get ready for an adventure! Our second unit of study focuses on the wonderful animals we keep as pets. 🐶🐱 Through this six-week investigation, students will discover the diverse characteristics of different pets and learn about the responsibilities of caring for them. 🐠
During this unit, students will explore:
- Animal Characteristics: What makes a pet a pet? We'll find out what makes each animal unique, from a scaly fish to a fluffy dog. 🦜
- Responsible Pet Care: What does a pet need to be happy and healthy? We'll learn how to properly feed, house, and care for different types of pets. 🏡
- Empathy and Kindness: We'll discover the importance of treating all living creatures with respect. ❤️
- Pet Ownership Duties: Understanding all the important jobs involved in being a responsible pet owner. 🦮
➡️ Our Social-Emotional Learning Focus 2: FOLLOWING DIRECTIONS
We're building on the great work students did during the first six weeks! After mastering the skill of using their "listening ears," we are now taking the next step.
Our new goal is to help students put their listening skills into action by following directions. This will help them learn to carefully understand and complete multi-step instructions, preparing them for more complex tasks in the classroom and beyond! 📋
