Principal's Message, February 2022

Dear Johnson Families,

I hope everyone enjoyed the week.  We celebrated Random Acts of Kindness Week and our 100^th day of school!  It was great to see all of the students and staff dressed for each day! It’s hard to believe we are more than half way through the school year!   

Congratulations to Mr. Travis Crozier, a 5^th grade teacher at Johnson and Educator of the Year!  At this week’s Board of Education Meeting he was awarded Educator of the Year for the entire Jackson School District.  This honor is well deserved and we are so proud of him!!!

All of our 4^th and 5^th graders participated in the spelling contest and then our top 30 contestants competed.  Congratulations to this year’s top 5 spelling finalists:  Sianna Taylor, Alina Finney, Matthew Krawiec, Jayden Redwood and Dominic Mennillo.  All 5 contestants will represent Johnson in the District Spelling Bee.  A very special congratulations goes out to this year’s champion, Sianna Taylor!

I would like to thank Mrs. Glushko for organizing our annual “Souper-Bowl” event.  We asked each student to bring in a can of soup and place it in the “TEAM BIN” of who they thought would win the Super Bowl.  We received 557 cans and all donations were delivered to the Jackson Food Pantry. 

Just a reminder, school is closed on Monday, February 21^st, for President’s Day.

Johnson is celebrating Twos Day, 2/22/22!  Join in the fun on this special day by wearing tutus, ties/bowties, tennis shoes and tiaras!  We will have a school-wide dance party at 2:22pm!

This year Johnson School is celebrating Read Across America during the week of February 28^th with plenty of Spirit Week activities. All students and staff are invited to join in the fun.  Please see the scheduled activities below.  We will also be celebrating with a brand new StoryWalk, and you and your family are invited to join in the fun!  You can enjoy this self-guided stroll on a trail around Johnson School’s perimeter on Tuesday, March 1^st anytime between 3:45 – 5:30 pm (Rain date:  Thursday, March 3^rd).

Read Across America Spirit Week

The PTO is hosting the Gertrude Hawk Fundraiser from February 23^rd – March 10^th.  More information will be available soon.  The Spring Book Fair is scheduled from March 7^th – 10^th.  Please see the Book Fair schedule to know which day your child will attend.  Book Fair Schedule

Spring Pictures are scheduled for March 15^th.  Flyers will be sent home the week before.  

Kindergarten Registration for the 2022-2023 school year will be taking place during the month of March by appointment only.  If you have a child turning five years of age on or before October 1, 2022, you can pre-register online or contact the school to pick up a registration packet.  Please contact Johnson to schedule an appointment for March.
