 Dear First Grade Families,

Welcome back to school! I am your child's teacher, Mrs. Kuusalu.  I am looking forward to helping your child explore, learn, and grow into confident First Graders. Let's have a great year!

For the first day of school, please make sure to have ID Cards, if you have them, students will be provided new ones this year. Also, make sure to have a full-size backpack, their Chromebook and charger, a water bottle, a sweater or sweatshirt for the cooler temperatures inside the classroom, and lunch or lunch money. 

PLEASE LABEL ALL MONEY BEFORE SENDING ANYTHING IN.  I will be providing a pencil holder, "Home to School Folder", scissors, and glue. See below for other items needed or suggested for purchase.  

Please be on time for school or early for the bus stops.

Must Have School Items:

1. A Backpack that will fit Chromebook, charger, headphones, books, and folder. No small backpacks please.

2. Headphones - These will be kept at school, unless otherwise discussed or needed.

3. Black Dry-Erase Markers - thin markers only

4. Crayons - (I will provide an 8 pack, but a 24 pack or more would be more fun of course)
5. Pencil Box (no large sizes or calculators or pencil sharpeners attached)

Items to Consider Having:

1. Refillable Water Bottle - We have a refillable water station at school. Waterbottle may be kept at school.

2. Classroom Donations: Kleenex, Playdough, Dry Erase Markers (Thin Black Packs), Wet Wipes or Baby Wipes, Lysol Wipes, Small Water Bottles, and small or large Zip Lock Bags.

Our Special Area Class Schedule is: 

       Monday - Art

       *Tuesday - PE or Gym

*Students MUST HAVE sneakers to participate in PE class.

       Wednesday -  Computers

       Thursday - Music

      ** Friday - Media or Library

 **Library books will remain in the classroom throughout the year. Contact me otherwise if you would like them sent home.

I will be using our Google Classroom and Remind for assignments and communications. I will get your child set up on the platform on the first day of school.

Please know, I am not always able to check my email throughout the day, but I will get back to you as quickly as I can. For immediate response or emergencies, contact me using the Class Dojo App or contact the school.
