    Rainbow hearts

Hello kindergarten families!! I hope you all had a wonderful, fun, and relaxing summer. My name is Mrs. Mika and I am looking forward to meeting all of you. This will be an exciting time filled with lots of learning and exploring.  I'll do everything I can to ensure a safe, positive, and successful year for your child.

This year your child will be learning letters, sounds, and how to read. Your child will also learn math, science, and social studies. In conjunction with these core subjects, your child will learn how to cut, paste, color, and draw. The most important part of your child's learning experience this year, however, will be learning how to establish and maintain friendships, be respectful and responsible students and members of the school community, and building a strong self-concept.

While Kindergarten marks an important transition in your child's life, it is important that children still get to be children. I will be helping your child strengthen their social and emotional skills through cooperative learning, play, taking turns, and whole group activities. I look forward to working with you and your child this year. If you have any questions or concerns please reach out and contact me at pjmika@jacksonsd.org

I want you to know that I’m here for you if you have a story to share or a question to ask.
