Welcome to Mrs. Mika's Kindergarten Class Page!
It's almost time to come to Kindergarten and I'm so excited to see you!
We are going to have a great time together. We're going to sing songs and read stories, make projects and learn so many wonderful new things! Of course there will be lots of other new friends who will be waiting to play and learn with you, too!
On the first day of school, please bring a book bag large enough to hold a folder without bending it. Please, also bring a change of clothes in a labeled ziploc bag to be kept in the classroom. You never know when some milk or water will get spilled. Accidents happen, and I want you to be comfortable.
In addition to your book bag, I have a list of other school supplies that might help you get through the school year. The following items are not mandatory; however, I know how kids like to add their own personal style to help make learning fun! (Please label all items before sending to school.)
- a plastic pencil box (approx. 5" x 8")
- two boxes of tissues
- a 2-pocket folder
- two composition books
- one pack Crayola washable markers
- one pack colored pencils
- a picture of your family to hang in your cubby
- Play-doh (for making letters/numbers)
- fine point dry erase markers
- white paper bags
Back to School Night for Kindergarten students is Wednesday, September 26th and will begin at 7 PM. Please let me know if you're unable to attend. I'll be happy to arrange an alternate time to discuss with you.
Your student's ID number is used to purchase lunch/snacks/drinks in the cafeteria. The ID number links to their account which you can add money to at any time. I'll provide students with their ID numbers on cards to use until ID numbers are memorized. Students will be given opportunities to practice typing their ID numbers into a keypad template.
You will find homework assignements, papers, notices, and correspondence from me in your child's RED folder. Please check your child's RED folder after school each day. Homework will begin in the beginning of October and will be discussed at Back to School Night.
Please check our class page regularly for upcoming activities and assignments throughout the school year. You'll find links to our curriculum and various educational resources. I'll update the page to reflect homework assignments and upcoming events on a weekly basis.
