• Honors English 1 (0100) is a rigorous course designed for accelerated and highly motivated ninth-grade students.  The course consists of challenging coursework which requires extensive reading and highly developed communication skills. The study of literature is combined with extension and refinement in the areas of writing, speaking, listening, and viewing.  Our semester includes short stories, poetry, Romeo and Juliet, Great Expectations, The Freedom Writers Diary, Lord of the Flies, The Scarlet Letter, and Of Mice and Men, and an independent read and study of Great Expectations.
