• 2019-2020 JMHS Concert Choir

Greetings from the JMHS choir room, where we are all very busy preparing for our upcoming fall and winter performances!  At this time, I would like to bring everyone up to date on our upcoming performances.

    • Our first performance will be on Wednesday, November 2, 2022 here at the JMHS Auditorium. The choir will perform as part of our annual "Broadway Night," a variety show/fund raiser which will feature soloists and groups performing songs and scenes from Broadway musicals. The tickets for Broadway night are $5.00, available in advance or at the door. The show starts at 7:00 PM, and proceeds benefit our Chorus activity fund. This chorus performance is a mandatory event for all Choir and Concert Choir members. Students should arrive for the performance no later than 6:00PM. The show will be over at or before 9:00PM. For this performance, all Choir members will wear our traditional black choir robes, which will be provided. Students are not permitted to wear sneakers or jeans with the robes.  Please wear dark colors, preferably black and dark shoes with the robes for performance.

    • Our Winter Choral Concert (mandatory for all choir members) will be "something completely different!"  The choir will perform as the ensemble in the JMHS Drama club's production of the Charles Dickens classic "Scrooge."  The choir will perform a short concert of carols and a cappella music before the show starts, and choir members will appear in the production.  The dates of the three performances are:  Friday, December 2, 2022 at 6:30 PM, Saturday December 3, 2022 at 2:00PM and Sunday December 4, 2022 at 2:00 PM.  This unique experience will be a great opportunity for our choir members to appear in a full length musical.

    • The third mandatory performance event for all choir members will be at the 2023 Pops Concert, 7:00 PM on Thursday, March 23, 2023.

    • Our fourth and final mandatory performance will be Wednesday, May 24, 2023, which is our Spring Choral Concert at 7:00PM.

Mandatory Performances: As stated in the curriculum and the course description for Choir and Concert choir, all students are required to attend four (4) performances each school year. Each performance carries with it a 100 point test grade. Students who do not attend the required performances will receive a grade of “0”.” Students are not excused from attendance, and no makeup work will be offered. In the event of serious illness or emergency, please contact me as soon as possible.

We have lots of great music to come for the 2022-2023 school year, with our spring production, “Sponge Bob the Musical."  As always, thank you for your continued support of music programs at our school and throughout the Jackson school district. Feel free to give me a call or email (best way to get in touch) if you have any questions or concerns.

    Sincerely yours,

    Edmund J Robertson
