Prequisite: Construction & Wood Tech
Course Description
This course is designed for students who want to expand their knowledge of hand tools, power machines, and materials processing previously learned in the Construction & Wood Tech course. Throughout the course, students will build upon skills learned previously, as well as develop new skills such as: advanced project planning, advanced joinery, project assembly, finishing techniques, and advanced power machine operations. Students will apply these skills to both hands-on and digitally designed projects. These skills will prepare students to advance into a future career in the woodworking, engineering, or architecture industries. This course is a must for students who have a strong passion for woodworking, design, and an eye for detail and creativity.
Course Objectives
Upon completion of this course, students will be able to:
- Understand and demonstrate a mastery with the skills of measuring, calculating dimensions, and using units
- Plan and design detailed projects on paper along with using digital design tools
- Understand and apply knowledge of tools, machinery, and cutting procedures to the design and creation of physical projects
- Understand and demonstrate knowledge of advanced joinery, construction, and design techniques to class projects
