Prequisite: Construction & Wood Tech and Advanced Wood Tech
Course Description
This course is designed for students who want to further expand their knowledge of hand tools, power machines, and materials processing previously learned in the first two Wood Tech courses. Throughout this course, students will independently design and create a semester-long project which utilizes all of their current skills, as well as challenges them to build and master new ones. These skills will prepare students to advance into a future career in the woodworking, engineering, or architecture industries. This course is a must for students who have a strong passion for woodworking, design, and an eye for detail and creativity.
Course Objectives
Upon completion of this course, students will be able to:
- Understand and demonstrate a mastery with the skills of measuring, calculating dimensions, and using units
- Independently plan and design detailed projects on paper along with using digital design tools
- Understand and apply knowledge of tools, machinery, and cutting procedures to the design and creation of physical projects
- Understand and demonstrate knowledge of advanced joinery, construction, and design techniques to class projects
