0108 ENGLISH II Grade 10 
This course is designed to focus on the reinforcement of language skills, with emphasis on reading and writing strategies in preparation for the High School Proficiency Assessment, college preparation and career success. It emphasizes the writing process, focusing particularly on revision and editing. A review of grammar and usage rules is also incorporated into the curriculum. Narrative, descriptive, expository, and persuasive writings are addressed. The study of literature includes the short story, novel, poetry, and drama. In addition, a summer reading project is part of the coursework. Students will further develop research skills and explore topics that demonstrate an interdisciplinary approach. Students will use technology to enhance their reading and writing skills, to communicate, and to acquire useful information.
