Prerequisite: Teacher recommendation, previous course grades, and NJSLA Assessment may be considered
This course is designed for the accelerated English student. It will provide each student with an in-depth study of literary elements and structure of all genres of literature, including the short story, novel, drama, and poetry. The student will be required to do extensive writing. Writing assignments will range from the paragraph to the complete essay, from the creative to the critical, from the narrative to the persuasive. Extensive studies in both grammar and vocabulary are stressed. In addition, both summer reading and extensive supplemental reading are required.
