Welcome Back!
Dear JLHS Families,
Welcome Back to Jackson Liberty High School!
As the summer draws to a close, we are all eagerly and anxiously anticipating the beginning of a new (and different) school year at Jackson Liberty. I hope this letter finds you, and those close to you, doing well. We look forward to working together with all of you soon.
The Jackson School District has created a plan for return that meets the mandates, procedures, and policies outlined in the NJ Restart and Recovery document that was received by the state this summer. We appreciate your patience, flexibility and assistance in following these guidelines. Your cooperation will help to create a positive, safe learning environment for our students and staff.
Please know that the safety and security of every student and staff member is our top priority. Below is a list of procedures that will be followed to ensure this occurs.
Face Coverings and Daily Screenings
All students (and staff) must wear a face covering throughout the school day. The face covering must follow our student dress code policy. All parents are to complete a daily screening form each morning at least 30 minutes prior to the start of the school day, through the Parent Portal regarding the health of their child. Students with certain symptoms based on the questions on the form should not be sent into school.
Bussing
Students are required to wear a mask on the bus at all times and follow the socially distanced procedures set by the bus driver. Upon arrival at school, students will enter the building through the door as directed by staff. Students are required to report directly to homeroom with no congregation in the hallways. There will be no lockers assigned to students.
Cleaning
Cleaning of the facility will be ongoing throughout the day. Bathrooms will be cleaned more frequently and on a schedule. Teachers will spray student desks with a safe and approved disinfectant spray and the students will wipe the desks down. At the end of each day, areas of the school will have a deep-cleaning including all high touchpoint areas like door knobs and school materials. Teachers will also have hand sanitizer for students entering and exiting the classroom.
Movement Within the Building
In order to keep students socially distanced as much as possible, movement within the building will be as limited as possible as well as marked with signage. Hallways will be marked with arrows on the floor to keep all students on the right side of the hall while walking throughout the building. If waiting outside an office (nurse, guidance, CST, Assistant Principals, etc…) signs will be placed on the floor to keep socially distanced while waiting. Please also see Guidance/CST/SAC Procedures below.
Classrooms
All classrooms have been set up with desk usage socially distanced of six feet apart as much as possible. Students and staff wearing masks at all times will add to the safety of conducting these classes.
Breakfast/Lunch
Students will order breakfast and lunch at the beginning of the day on a Google form. These food items will be available at the end of the day to all who ordered. There will be no eating in the classroom or on the busses.
Guidance/CST/SAC Procedures
If a student needs to meet with a counselor, they will send the counselor an email. The counselor will then schedule a meeting. This meeting can take place on the days they are home or at school.
Dismissal
Dismissal of students at the end of the day will be staggered in order to limit the amount of congregation in the hallways. Students are required to move directly to their bus or car and leave campus.
1:1 Chromebook Initiative
All students will be supplied with a chromebook. Students will bring their charged Chromebook to school every day. Chromebooks were distributed to students the week of Aug. 24th.
There will be no locker use at this time. Student Handbook has been updated and includes many procedural and policy changes due to Covid this year. This will be updated shortly. Please be sure to read it with your child.
