In the fall of every year, NHS encourages all eligible juniors and seniors to apply for consideration.
To be eligible, applicants MUST have 4.0 GPA (please check with Guidance) and have accrued a minimum of 30 hours of documented community service from high school (summer into 9th grade to current year). There may still be limited opportunities to complete community service remotely. See information below.
Applications become available for download on this page in June of every year. Applications are due in late September/early October.
VOLUNTEER SERVICE OPPORTUNITY:The Ocean County Library is excited for the return of our summer volunteer program, Service and Achievement In the Library (S.A.I.L.). S.A.I.L. is returning solely in-person this year at all branches, and only virtually at the Beachwood branch. The volunteer program is offered to teens who have completed at least 7th grade and are entering grades 8th - 12th in the fall. Teen volunteers accepted into the program are able to gain work-life experience by assisting the library with programs, displays, and other library-related activities. This is an opportunity to learn about the library, engage with peers, and earn community service hours over the summer. To apply for the S.A.I.L. program, teens need to fill out the application here: https://theoceancountylibrary.
org/teens/SAIL. Teens should click on the drop-down menu, select their branch, and review the application carefully. Some branches have specific deadlines and dates for certain events. There are limits to the number of volunteers who can participate in-person, so positions will fill on a first come first serve basis.
