Welcome to English II with Miss Borrelli and Mrs. Bruinooge! This semester will focus on improving all literary skills, including reading, writing, speaking, and listening. Our curriculum is a blend of classic and contemporary works. This balance helps students engage with current topics they find most relevant, while still gaining exposure to timeless pieces that have been studied for years. We are always available for assistance with anything, so please reach out if you have any questions/ concerns.

A huge change to the English Department's final examination has been created and will be in effect for the 2024-2025 academic year.
The grade 10 Authentic Assessment unit will integrate non-fiction, narrative fiction, dramatic literature, research, and writing using the theme of Social Justice Issues. The course will provide students with the ability to strengthen understanding and develop skills, while continuously requiring learners to reflect and build upon information and previously studied material, thus developing the career and college skill of synthesis.
Details for assignments and deadlines will be posted and updated regularly on the Google Classroom. The assessment will be graded throughout the course, and specific components (the final research paper and the formal presentation, definitively) will double as final examination elements.
Students and parents are encouraged to track the requirements of this project-based assessment throughout the course, as the final examination grade is almost entirely based on the tasks in this project.
