November Principal's Message 2021

November 2021

Dear Holman Families:

As the parent-teacher conference days approach, I hope that you will have the opportunity to meet with your child’s teacher regarding their academic and behavioral progress so far this school year.  Conferences are an important component to ensure that the school and the home work together to maximize your child’s full potential. Although there are no other official conference days during the school year, I encourage you to stay in close communication with your child’s teacher and, most importantly, to stay involved in their education.  Whether through a phone call, an email, or a note in the planner, the Holman staff is ready to help.

Holman Elementary School will be CLOSED on Thursday, November 4th, 2021 and Friday, November 5th, 2021 for the New Jersey Teachers Convention.

H.O.P.E.

H.O.P.E is very excited that our Trunk or Treat is only 3 days away!!!  There is still time to sign up to participate with your car and decorate your trunk and pass out candy. Without more cars, the event may not happen!  If your family would like to be creative and have some fun with a chance to win a prize for the best decorated car, please sign up at https://forms.gle/gRrZXvnr5rHBKTMe7    In order to make this event a success, we also need donations of bagged candy.   Any size bag of individually wrapped candy will do! You can send your donation to school with your child labeled HOPE Trunk or Treat to ensure we receive it.

Please mark your calendars for our next HOPE meeting which will be held at 7:00PM in the IMC/Virtually on Wednesday, November 10, 2021.  Please check the HOPE Highlights for more information.

Report Cards

As the 1st marking period nears an end on December 8th, please make sure you are ready to access your child’s report card on the district portal website.  If you haven't done so already, be sure to log into your Parent Portal account. Report cards will be released to the Portal on Wednesday, December 22nd.

Free and Reduced Lunch Application

You may apply for free/reduced price lunch benefits. Applications are sent home with students in September, and are always available on our web site or at your child’s school. Only one application is required per household, but must be completed annually. If a new application for prior recipients is not received, the full price for lunch will be charged. Applications may be found on the Food Services website.

Looking and Planning Ahead:

Picture Retakes will be held on Monday, December 20th for anyone that needs to have their picture taken due to being absent or needing a re-take.

On Wednesday, November 17th, the Board of Education Meeting will be held at 6:30 pm in the Fine Arts Building at JMHS.

As a reminder, Holman School will have an early dismissal on Wednesday, November 24, 2021.  ALL students in grades PK-5 will be dismissed at 1:15PM on that day.   Holman School will be closed on Thursday, November 25, 2021 and Friday, November 26, 2021.

November is a time intended for giving thanks.  Please ask your child what they are doing to support this important character trait.  How are they showing thankfulness and appreciation?  We are very fortunate to have a school community with a nurturing staff, happy students, and caring parents.  Happy Thanksgiving!  Enjoy your Thanksgiving Recess with friends and family!

Sincerely,

Rich Karas
