March Principal's Message 2025

Dear Holman Families:

I’m so glad that spring is finally around the corner.   Don’t forget to turn your clocks ahead on Sunday, March 9th.  With the extra hour of daylight, it's a little easier to do some fun activities with the family.  One of the most important things that you can do to support your child's success is to read with your child every day.  Research states that daily reading practice (10-30 minutes depending upon grade level) will continue to strengthen skills in all academic domains.

Holman Attendance Challenge

Show Up To Shine!!! You may have heard your child come home and talk about our new Holman Attendance Challenge. We are excited to share that our students in grades K-5 had an assembly on either Tuesday or Wednesday to discuss our Holman Attendance Challenge and the importance of having good school attendance.

Please see the attached presentation that your children heard. We hope all of our wonderful Holman students are ready to raise their attendance rates, have a little healthy competition and win some amazing grade-level prizes supplied by our HOPE organization.

Thank you for taking a moment to click through the presentation.

5th Grade Community Service Project

The 5th grade students will be completing two service projects in April.  The first project is a cross-curricular project that will involve learning about and recreating, in a STEM-based activity, the animals at the Popcorn Park Zoo in Forked River.  The students will also raise money to be donated to the Zoo.  Along with helping animals in need.  The students will be collecting items to donate to the Forked River Humane Society.

Ways that you can help:

  • March 17 - 28th, your child can bring in coins each day to vote on their favorite Popcorn Park Zoo Animal.  The winning animal will be announced on April 29th, 2024.

  • March 17 - 28th, your child can bring in dog or cat food, blankets, and toys to donate to the Forked River Humane Society.

  • Parents and Family members will be invited in on April 14th for our Holman Zoo! More information to follow.

  • 5th Grade field trip to Popcorn Park zoo will take place on Tuesday, April 15th.

  • The fifth grade thanks you for all of your support and donations.

Kindergarten Registration - Call NOW to register for your appointment in March

Kindergarten Registration in the Jackson School District will take place during the month of MARCH BY APPOINTMENT ONLY.  Registration packets will be available online and in all elementary schools.  We encourage all parents of students NOT already enrolled in the Preschool program to pre-register online to save time and streamline the registration process at the time of your appointment.

For students who already attend a Jackson School District Preschool program:  Parents do not need to fill out the online registration forms that you completed when you registered for Preschool. However, you DO need to call and make an appointment for Kindergarten Registration to:

  • Submit a new physical examination form;

  • Submit a new dental examination form;

  • Show proof of 5-year-old immunizations (if your child is not yet five, you will submit these after they reach the age of 5);

  • Re-submit four proofs of residency for review.

It is incredibly important that parents register during this period so we can plan ahead for the next school year. If you are a parent of an incoming kindergarten student (regardless of whether they are already in the pre-K program), we kindly ask that you make every effort to register your child during the month of March.  All information will be available on the Registration Page on the district website.

Please call (732) 833-4620 and speak to Mrs. Lynn Goldblatt to schedule an appointment during March to register your child for Kindergarten.  Appointments are available starting Monday, March 3rd to  Wednesday, March 26th, from 9:30 to 12:00 Noon.  Call now to schedule your appointment for March Kindergarten registration today!!!!!!
