McAuliffe National Junior Art Honor Society
Membership in the National Junior Art Honor Society is one of the highest honors that can be awarded at McAuliffe.
This year, 8th grade students who wish to participate will fill out an application form. These students will have demonstrated an outstanding ability and interest in art and in being involved in the McAuliffe community in both their 6th and 7th grade years. The students will have to get recommendations from teachers and then submit the application. The applications will be reviewed by McAuliffe ART TEACHERS. Members for the 2021-2022 school year will then be chosen and inducted into the NJAHS and recognized with accolades during a candle lighting ceremony.
The National Art Honor Society, sponsored by the National Art Education Association, is a prestigious organization represented throughout the United States and thirteen foreign countries with over 2,100 chapters and 49,000 participating students. The organization strives to inspire and recognize students who have shown an outstanding ability and interest in art and to bring art education to the attention of the school and community.
The National Junior Art Honor Society at McAuliffe, advised by art teachers Lizabeth Murphy and Amy North, is designed specifically for middle school students and focuses on the importance of good grades and the development of outstanding citizenship through community service.

What Kind of Arts Community Service Will We Do?
All NJAHS members will participate in community service. Some of the planned projects for this year are: face painting at various McAuliffe events; assisting the Character Education Committee; completing a painting project to beautify the school, designing holiday cards to send to our troops overseas, helping build and paint sets for the drama club performances; designing an art display; and other service projects to be determined by the NJAHS club members.
