8th Grade Literacy
Happy Thanksgiving!
Marking Period 1 has come to a close and we are jumping into Marking Period 2 with a clean slate! We are currently reading our novel Touching Spirit Bear. This novel will take us through the second week in December.
Some things to remember:
Skill Review Homework is assigned every Monday and Wednesday-this will be a worksheet that is to be completed at home.
On Tuesdays and Thursdays, students are asked to complete 20 minutes of IXL for homework. We have weekly Leaderboard Challenges that enable students to earn prizes.
All students and guardians have access to Genesis and should be checking it regularly. Grades are updated on a daily basis.
Students have been updating their diagnostic scores in IXL on Wednesdays and Fridays.
Please remember to charge your Chromebook on a nightly basis!
Supplies needed:
Charged Chrome Book
Pencil
Homework Folder
These items should come to class with you every day!

SSR (silent sustained reading) will take place on a weekly basis in class. Students should have a book with them at all times. If they do not have their own book, they will be required to choose one from our extensive classroom library. Aside from reading in class, students should be reading at home for at least 20 minutes per day.
