Switlik Book Fair:  October 11th – October 25th ( we will attend on the 14th.)

We’re excited to invite you to our upcoming Scholastic Book Fair. Hosted by our staff, this event is an opportunity for students of all ages to build their home libraries and further their love of reading. As always, all purchases benefit our school.

After missing out on many beloved traditions, our fall Book Fair will be a familiar, welcome, and safe event for our students. Here’s what you need to know about the Fair:

    • Our Book Fair offers a cash-free payment option called eWallet. It’s a convenient digital

account that your child can use for shopping at our Fair. Grandparents, friends, and

    others can contribute, too!

    • If you can’t make it to the Fair, then shop online at our school’s Virtual Book Fair. All

orders ship directly to your home, and shipping is free for book orders over $25.

Your online orders will also benefit our school.

Visit our Book Fair homepage to learn more and get started with eWallet and

    online shopping:

cameraPicture Day:   Is fast approaching on Friday, October 22nd.  Please review the guidelines set forth below to ensure the safety of all students and staff in reference to group class pictures:

    • Students will be arranged on risers standing shoulder to shoulder. We are unable to photograph the students socially distanced – 3 feet apart.
    • Students will wear their masks as they are arranged for the picture. At the very last minute, the photographer will ask them to remove their masks and hold it in hand.
    • When the group image is captured, the students must immediately replace their masks as they leave the area.
    • Please inform your child's teacher if you do not want your child to participate in the class picture.

PLEASE READ IMPORTANT INFORMATION BELOW REGARDING THE PLANS FOR THIS YEAR:

The safety of our school community must come first and we must ALL remain vigilant in our health and safety protocols.

*Face coverings are required for all students and staff at all times when in school.*

*Please send in a note with your child if there are any changes to dismissal.*

*Keep your child home if they are sick.*

*Please continue bringing Chromebooks fully charged and school books to school each day*

    school supplies

Please label everything that comes in, including water bottles. And don't forget sweatshirts/jackets as the weather will start to get cooler!  This can be as easy as pinning a ribbon or piece of fabric inside the clothing, so you DO NOT have to write on it.

    • In the backpack, it is also encouraged to have an extra mask or 2 incase the 1st one gets misplaced or dirty.  Please be sure that the clean masks are in a labeled bag or container. Dirty masks will just be put in their backpack so you know the difference. Please remember that it is mandatory that the children wear masks all day.
    • The students are also encouraged to bring in a water bottle each day
    • Our room gets pretty chilly so I recommend the students bring a sweatshirt or sweater to keep in their backpack, especially at the start of the year when it is much warmer outside than in our classroom!
    • Lunches will be available, but you can always bring a bagged lunch.
    • Please send in a note if there will be a change in dismissal for your child. All dismissal notes are sent down to the office in the morning. It is IMPORTANT that you date these notes, include your child's full name, and my name.

    School Supplies:

We have provided everything your child needs to have a successful year in 2nd grade. Decorated pencils with a paper wrapping break our pencil sharpeners. Please save those for use at home for homework. Good old fashioned Ticonderoga yellow pencils last the longest and are best for class. All students were given a pencil box for their desks.  If you would like to donate some needed items to our classroom, we are always in need of tissues, paper towels, and wipes.
