Welcome to Mrs. Amidon's 3rd Grade Classroom
(formely Ms. Contegiacomo)
I am looking forward to a year filled with excitement, fun, adventure, and lots of learning! Please check our class page as it has important information to help start the year. We are going to have an AWESOME year!
I believe that a great parent-teacher relationship is necessary for a successful school year. Our main general classroom communication is this class page and remind. I hope that you will visit it often to learn what is happening in our room. I update our class page with homework and with information on the skills and strategies that we are working on in class. Other announcements that pertain to our class, school, and community will also be posted on our class page and sent out through the remind app!
Please use the side bar to find out more about our classroom!
I have provided everything your child needs to have a successful year in 3rd grade. If you would like to bring in a small pencil case to keep inside their desks please make sure it is labeled with their name on it. It is also recommended to have an extra mask or 2 kept in your child's backpack incase one gets misplaced or dirty. Please remember that it is mandatory that children wear masks all day.
Planners: We will use the planner that was sent home as a communication tool between our class and your home. Homework and reminders will be written there each morning. Please sign the planner and review the homework folder on a daily basis.
Chromebooks: Please bring your charged chromebook to scool each day.
Take Home Folder: I will be providing a Switlik homework folder for students on the first day. This folder is to come back and forth with them to school each day. Please use this folder to send in important notes and/or homework.
Google Classroom: Our google classroom is where assignments, resources, and lessons will be posted throughout the year and where students will submit their assignments if they or the class needs to go virtual. We will be using it for other assignments within the classroom as well.
Please make sure you join our Google Classroom ASAP- check your student email!
*Please try to remember bus number and student id number*
Our lunch is from 12:15 - 12:45
Please send in a healthy lunch and drink or you may order the FREE school lunch eacy day. Please visit the school website for the lunch menu.
The students are also encouraged to bring in a water bottle each day. We will not have access to the water fountain due to the current situation, so we kindly ask that a water bottle be sent in everyday.
Please note that our classroom is a nut-free classroom. Students are permitted to bring items containing peanuts or nuts during lunch, but no snacks or food are allowed in the classroom. We are asking your assistance in providing all students with a safe and comfortable learning environment. Thank you for your cooperation.
Birthdays may be celebrated during school hours in the APR (Cafeteria) during lunch. Outside/homemade treats MAY NOT be delivered to the school and there will be NO visitors this year in the building. Students may bring prepackaged store bought items in to celebrate, if they wish to do so. Please remember to have enough for all students in the class (23 students). We have allergies to gelatin, rye, pumpernickel, and pork in our class.

What is Bucket Filling?
Actions or words that show that you care about someone. Saying or doing something kind. Giving someone a heartfelt smile. Using names with respect. Helping without being asked. Giving sincere compliments. Showing respect to others. There are hundreds of wonderful ways to fill buckets. The language of bucket filling has become synonymous with being kind and thoughtful. Your bucket will be filled when, at the close of each day, you reflect on the ways in which you have filled buckets.
